My Thanksgiving was wonderful and full of family, friends, kids, adults and everyone in between. In other words, it was exactly what a holiday should be. However, in the midst of it all, I neglected to wish my readers a Happy Thanksgiving. Sorry to come to you a bit late with that message.

This year at Thanksgiving, I am most thankful to live in a democracy, and my Thanksgiving wish if for that democracy to survive. As you know if you read my blogs and my books or have heard my lectures and programs, I believe that respect for others in both action and speech and decency in the treatment of others are absolutely necessary to retain the gifts that our democracy here in America has provided to us for over 200 years. Unfortunately, that is not happening at the highest level of our government today, and our democracy and all the underpinnings of that democracy are at risk. Thus, my wish, which I pray for all days and not just on Thanksgiving Day, is that we will survive the current challenging times and hold true to who and what we are as a nation.

Thank you for your support throughout the years. It is important that we all continue to expect the most from our profession and the most from ourselves as lawyers, and it is a pleasure to pursue that goal with all of you.

Again this year, I will take the month of December off from Best Friends at the Bar to spend time with friends and family. I wish you all a wonderful December holiday and a Happy New Year. I will be back in January 2026.
