Thank You, Miami

I am back after a very successful book trip to Miami.  I spoke at the University of Miami Law, St. Thomas University Law, the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and Holland & Knight law firm.  I enjoyed each venue and met some interesting new friends.  The law schools turned out large audiences, and Holland & Knight video fed the program to all of its other offices.

There were a number of men in the audiences, which I always like.  Several of them came to talk with me afterwards and told me how much they had learned.  That definitely is a step in the right direction.  One of the older gentleman at Holland & Knight said that he was there for his granddaughter, who is starting law school in the fall., and he bought her a book.  That is exactly how it is supposed to work.

But, the Federal Court was a first for me, AND what a first.

Thought for the Day

For young women interested in public interest advocacy, you need to think beyond the courtroom to legislative advocacy, organizing work and communications as well.  A complete lawyer these days really does need to understand that there are other avenues for social justice.
